Karzai: BSA to Yield Advantages

Economists say that signing of the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between Kabul and Washington will help Afghanistan to attract international investments and enhance economic activities in the country under peaceful environment.

 
Alongside the security and judicial issues, Afghanistan's economic growth has also been considered in the bilateral security agreement.
The US will be responsible for construction of facilities and sites where the US forces would be deployed and income taxes would be implemented on the contracts of US forces. Importations, exportations and the transit of equipments by the US forces that do not have any commercial purposes shall not be liable for tax. Though, their service activities will be excluded from the tax.

US logistics convoy will be subject to transit duty upon their entry to Afghanistan. In addition, US forces contractors will obtain licenses from the Afghanistan Investment Supporting Agency (AISA).
Under this agreement, the US forces will be obliged to use from the facilities and services of Afghanistan.
By signing the security agreement, the Afghans will receive millions of dollars on annual basis directly and indirectly from the US.
"The security agreement will yield many advantages to us, because it makes the US responsible to support us and Minister of Finance will give you the details of US aids, the US will provide us nearly $ 16 billion over the next four years".

The US forces may produce and provide services including but not limited to water, electricity, and other utilities for agreed facilities and areas and for other locations as mutually agreed. The production and provision of such services shall be notified and coordinated with the joint commission on a periodic basis.
A number of economic analysts have said that signing of the security agreements between the US and other countries have resulted to economic development of those countries.
"Signing of the agreement is in our interests, because it will attract international investments, so it gives trust to investors, said economic analyst Azarakhsh Hafizi."
Based on remarks of the economic experts, countries like Germany, Japan and South Korea are the economic power of the world after signing security agreement with the US.
