Texas Researchers Head to Antarctica for Pollution Study

Terry Palmer, a Research Associate with the Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is part of a team of scientists that will record their scientific adventures at McMurdo Station, the largest research station on the frozen continent of Antarctica. Five years after the billion-gallon coal ash spill in Kingston, TN, a new report from Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) shows that decades of mismanagement have led to toxic groundwater pollution at all 11 Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) coal plants, with concentrations of arsenic, boron, cobalt, manganese, and other pollutants exceeding health-based guidelines in dozens of down-gradient wells

WMO Reports New Record High for Greenhouse Gases

The International Business Times announced greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere hit a record high, according to a report released today by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have increased to levels unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years, the WMO's 5th Annual Assessment Report stated.
