Breaking News -- Officials: 10,000 people feared dead after typhoon hits Philippines

Regional police chief Elmer Soria said the death toll from the devastating Super Typhoon Haiyan could be as high as 10,000, according to multiple media reports. Soria said he was briefed by Leyte provincial Gov. Dominic Petilla. Tacloban city administrator Tecson Lim said there could be as many as 10,000 dead in the city of Tacloban alone, the Associated Press reports.
