| Stocks reversed course and turned higher in afternoon trading Wednesday as the Standard & Poor's 500 index blew more than 10 points past its previous closing high of 1,1771.95 on Oct. 29. The Dow Jones industrial average climbed about 0.5% for the day, also topping its previous high of 15,783.10, set on Monday. |
